The 2024 Total Eclipse Path Through Maine
Pelee Island is the first Canadian soil to see totality, enjoying 3m15s at 19:12:44. The shadow hits the mainland at Point Pelee Dr in the National Park south of Leamington, at 15:13:15EDT.
From there, the shadow follows Lake Erie perfectly, moving up Hwy 401, just missing London. And actually, the big cities of Chatham-Kent, Kitchener, Woodstock and Toronto itself also lie outside the path you really need to be down on the coast! But Hamilton is barely inside the northern limit, and weve already mentioned Niagara Falls prime location. In Hamilton, youll want to be as far southeast as you can be, to maximize your time in the shadow.
It is bad news for the really big city Toronto is tantalizingly close to totality but you have to go out into the lake, or around it to the west or south sides of it, to see totality.
The eclipse path then passes just south of Oshawa, and picks up along the Lake Ontario coastline again just west of Cobourg .
Belleville and Kingston are good for totality, but Ottawa unfortunately lies north of the path. Cornwall is also squarely in the path.
After its nice run up the coast of both lakes, the shadow leaves Ontario at 15:27:26EDT on the St. Lawrence coast, on road 2 just east of Lancaster .
When Was The Last Total Solar Eclipse In The Uk
The last time the path of an eclipse’s totality went over the UK was in 1999. This was one of the most viewed total solar eclipses due to its path falling on areas of high population density.
However, many areas of Western Europe were affected by poor visibility due to clouds. In some places, the clouds frustratingly parted after the eclipse had passed, but others were luckier with the clouds parting just in time.
Many people went to view the eclipse in Cornwall, the only place in the UK to witness totality, with the BBC broadcasting from Cornwall’s western end where the eclipse would come first.

In a little under seven years comes the Great North American Eclipse, when the Moon-shadow will race across the entire continent.
After making land at the city of Mazatlan in Mexico and crossing the states of Durango and Coahuila, Totality will sweep across Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, New York, Vermont and Maine, and New Brunswick and Newfoundland in Canada. Stand anywhere within the Path of Totality and youll get between 3 minutes 30 seconds and 4 minutes 30 seconds of Totality over a minute more than in 2017.

The longest duration may technically be in Mexico, but at no point does any of the USA or Canada experience any less Totality than the maximum available in 2017.
So if you thought 2017s total solar eclipse was good, you aint seen nothing yet! Most places along the track experience about four minutes of Totality, which is about as good as it gets this century.

The 2024 Total Eclipse Path Through Arkansas
The shadow enters Arkansas at 13:45:35CDT, on the wooded shores of the Red River just south of where OK road 87 turns into AR road 108. Totality here lasts 4m5s, but we dont think there will be many intrepid eclipse chasers paddling down the river. You never know, though.
There are plenty of good-sized towns in Arkansas that you could choose for your eclipse experience: Hot Springs and Little Rock are possibilities, though if youre in the state capital youll want to be as far northwest as you can get Little Rock is very close to the southern limit! Conway may be a better choice, while Russellville will see 4m9s of totality at 13:50CDT. Clinton is almost right on centerline, while Jonesboro will get 2m29s at 13:55:30CDT.
Pine Bluff is south of the path! Head up to Little Rock, or even closer to the centerline at Conway. Fayetteville is north of the path, and even Fort Smith lies just tantalizingly outside of totality. Get over to Ozark, or even farther east on I-40, and enjoy a great show!
Arkansas bids farewell to totality at 7 seconds after straight-up 14:00CDT. Less than 15 minutes to sweep across the entire state from southwest to northeast! The community of St. Francis, on the border with Missouri, will see 3m24s of totality at 13:56:30CDT.

First, the crowds gather, spreading out picnic blankets, setting up lawn chairs and stringing up hammocks. Theres a social, even jovial atmosphere until the sunlight begins to dim, and an unnerving shadow seeps across the entire landscape like a rising tide. The chatter quiets as eyes lift to the sky. And finally, it happens the sun is consumed entirely by a pitch-black disk, nighttime arrives in the middle of the day, and everyone gasps then cheers.
The spectacle of a total solar eclipse is an awe-inspiring moment, one that many skywatchers travel the world to witness. In 2017, the United States experienced its first total solar eclipse in nearly 40 years, with an impressive 88 percent of the adults in the country turning out to view the show.
Now, the next one is on the horizon. Two years from today, on April 8, 2024, the Great North American Solar Eclipse will nearly bisect the country, plunging a 124-mile-wide swath of land stretching from Mexico to Canada into night-like darkness.
Two years might seem like a long time away, but given the popularity of total solar eclipses, its just about time to start making viewing plans, especially if you plan on traveling for the event.

Solar Eclipse: When Is The Next One

The next total eclipse for North America will occur on April 8, 2024, and for those who are not used to this type of astronomical manifestation this might seem a bit strange.
The 2024 Total Eclipse Path Through Nova Scotia
While Nova Scotia makes the list of provinces on the totality list, things here are similar to Tennessee and Michigan within the USA. Only a small portion of the province sees totality about 70 square miles but on the bright side, that is just about double the path area within Tennessee and Michigan combined, and there are actually quite a number of roads and even a few houses contained within the path here in Nova Scotia. As far as totality is concerned, we can only consider the very far northern coast. Locations like Meat Cove and Saint Margaret Village are noted, with Dingwall and even Asby Bay missing out. Most of the area of the province that lies in the path consists of mountains and rural forests, to be sure.
The shadow enters Nova Scotia at the beach to the west of Meat Cove at 16:39:24ADT, and leaves on the other side of Bay St. Lawrence, about as far northeast on the island you can get, at 16:41:05ADT. Less than a minute and a half spent in this far northern piece of land.

The 2024 Total Eclipse Path Through Missouri
The umbra first touches Missouri at 13:53:38CDT, just about at the point where state road 467 crosses the border with Arkansas. Doniphan lies on the centerline, and Cape Girardeau sees its second total eclipse in less than 7 years!
Speaking of locations that see both the 2017 and the 2024 eclipses, it is a very tough call to say exactly where the first piece of land is that can lay claim to being first to see both eclipses. Our bet is for the little town of Cherokee Pass, which lay on the southern edge of the 2017 path but now in 2024 gets a respectable 3m38s of totality at 13:57:27CDT. If you want to lay claim to being first to see both eclipses, we recommend you do your own calculations. But if you do end up choosing Cherokee Pass, it seems to us that youll want to be at least as far north on 67 as the set of restaurants and gas stations that lie south of road A. Wed like to note that, due to the shape of the umbral outline on the Earth, points west of the centerline here receive totality slightly earlier than points on the centerline. The western half of the Boot Heel lies in the path Kennett sees 2m17s of totality at 13:57CDT. New Madrid is also in the path but if you go there, please pronounce it the way the locals do!

Saturday, October 14, 2023, an annular eclipse will be experienced in the US from Oregon to Texas all of North America will have at least a partial solar eclipse.
Monday, April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will be seen in the US from Texas to Maine in the process all of North America will have at least a partial solar eclipse.

The 2024 Total Eclipse Path Through Michigan
Before moving east, lets talk about Michigan. As in Tennessee, only a very tiny sliver of the far, far Southeastern portion of the state will be in the path and that will be right along the edge. Were not talking about Detroit, either its not even close. Ditto Monroe or Adrian theyre not in the path. Not even Temperance or Lambertville will see totality, either they both lie outside the path! We mean only a few square miles of the absolute tiniest, most southeastern slice of Michigan is in the path. I-75 is in the path, coming north out of Toledo but only as far as the exit at Erie Road! Theres just not many places in Michigan to see totality, but if youre set on doing it from here, the Lost Peninsula Marina will see over a minute. Anywhere east of state road 125 will be in the path, but keep in mind youre near the northern limit this means that edge effects will reduce the amount of actual totality you see. The Bedford Hills golf club is barely on the edge, and anywhere west of that is not going to see totality. Best of luck if youre viewing from Michigan but if you do get to see totality, tell us your story! There wont be many people who see 2024s totality from here, and wed like to hear how it went for you on eclipse day!

When Is The Next Solar Eclipse
There will be two Solar Eclipses in 2021, which will happen on the following dates:
- On there will be an Annular Eclipse of the Sun.
- On , there will be a Total Eclipse of the Sun, which will not be visible in the United States.
In 2022, there will also be two Solar Eclipses, on April 30 and October 25. However, these will not be visible in the United States.
The next Total Eclipse of the Sun, which will be seen from the United States, is going to happen on April 8, 2024, at 2:18 p.m.
When Is The Next Eclipse In North America
The next solar eclipse is coming on Oct. 14, 2023, and will be visible from North America, where the event will be a rather special annular solar eclipse, also known as a “Ring of Fire” eclipse. This time it will be much easier to see than in 2021, lasting over four minutes and visible across the western U.S. from Oregon through Nevada, Utah, Texas, and New Mexico, as well as in Mexico, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Columbia, and Brazil. Key tourist attractions crossed by this eclipse include Edzná, a Mayan temple in Mexico, and in the U.S., Oregon’s Crater Lake National Park, Capitol Reef National Park in Utah, and Arizona’s Monument Valley.
Los Angeles will see a 70-percent eclipsed sun at 9:24 a.m. while Las Vegas will see 82 percent, Denver 78 percent, Chicago 42 percent, Washington D.C. 29 percent, and New York 23 percent. However, the epicenter of this event is going to be Texas, which will not only have a good chance of clear weather but also be staging a dress rehearsal for a much bigger, more important eclipse coming up just six months later. Austin will see an 88 percent partial solar eclipse at 11:54 a.m. while San Antonio will see an exact Ring of Fire. Lost Maples State Natural Area in Texas will also see that spectacle and just six months later, it will see a “proper'” total solar eclipse.
