First Is Solar Power Worth It
It depends on your objectives! First, lets face it To implement solar energy is not cheap compared to todays energy from the grid. Though the costs of solar are coming down!
One could argue that from strictly a cost savings point of view it might not be practical.
It may take years to reach a break-even point. Why? Because a cost analysis of a solar power system compared with that of your electric utility bill will speak for itself.
Depending on the system design and usage, the break even point varies widely.
Hover, Its Worthwhile for Many!
Despite the cost of a given solar power system, for many its a worthwhile investment.
Example: If purchasing a new property with land far from the nearest road with electric utilities, it may actually cost less to implement a solar power system than pay to run electricity to your property.
For the preparedness minded, simply having a very basic solar power system provides some peace of mind . I built an off-grid solar power system which is side-by-side with my homes grid power. Ive integrated it through transfer switches for some of my homes electrical circuit breakers.
Some people may choose to put together a small system for just in case. Maybe just several hundred watts to charge several deep cell 12-volt batteries connected to an inverter .
Solar power systems are also becoming popular for RVs. A few panels up on the roof can make boondocking a bit more comfortable!
Map Of The Solid Surfaces Of The Solar System
A map showing the relative sizes of the solid surfaces of the solar system. Source: xkcd.com
This aptly titled and brilliant map shows the sizes of the solid surfaces all stitched together as if they were a single continent. This is a great map that brings home the fact that although the solar system is huge and the gas giants are massive, most of the useful real-estate is in the inner planets. And who’d of thought that the moons surface is about as big as Africa?

How To Draw Solar System Diagrams
Now, this is a valid question. How can we draw solar system diagrams? Is there a specific procedure? Heres the answer.
If students want to learn more about the planetary system and the earth, they must first learn about the solar system. They can use a solar system diagram to determine how far the planets are from the sun.
Step 1- To begin the drawing, start from the left and progress toward the right. First, draw a large yellow circle representing the sun, the largest celestial body in the solar system. Mercury remains the closest to the sun and the smallest in size. Students must draw a small circle next to the sun. After that, they must draw a larger circle next to Mercury. This is Venus. They can use a yellowish-brown color to shade it.
Step 2- Next to Venus, draw green and blue-hued earth larger than the previous planets. The students must now create Mars, a red planet located next to Earth. Students can do this by drawing a smaller circle in red and orange.
Step 3- The students must draw a large circle next to Mars. They need to color it yellowish-orange. This is Jupiter. Students should now draw a smaller circle next to Jupiter. This is Saturn. Draw a small ring that surrounds it. Saturn can be represented by the colors yellow, grey, brown, and orange.
Are Solar Panels And Solar Power Thefuture
There is so much more to show you, butsolar energy is definitely the future. As more auto manufacturers turn toelectric cars, and as more oil reserves become depleted, our options in thefuture might become limited. When it comes to solar, with the prices where theyare today, youll definitely want to get in on the ground floor.
Solar energy is pretty easy tounderstand once you break it down, and once you see the impact it can have onboth you and the environment, youll definitely want to get involved.
Now that you know the facts what willyou do with solar energy?

How Long Is A Year What’s Precession And How Does The Earth Really Move
This site tries to keep things simple and therefore doesn’t go into the quite complex details of how everything is changing all the time. If you would like to see under the hood and find out about all the real complexities affecting how the night sky changes over thousands and hundreds of thousands of years then why not try this video.
Unless you want to see the lovely imagery, skip to 1:55 to get to where the interesting stuff starts. And, as a warning, it starts off slow, but the complexity builds until your brain starts to melt – might need a few watches to get it all in.
To skip intro jump to 1:55. Terms that are explained but which might be useful to have to hand when watching:
Perihelion – Orbit’s closest point to the Sun.Aphelion – Orbit’s furthest point from the Sun.Sidereal year – the orbital period of the earth around the sun, taking the stars as a reference frame. It is 20 minutes longer than the tropical year because of precession.Tropical year – , for general purposes, is the time that the Sun takes to return to the same position in the cycle of seasons, as seen from Earth for example, the time from vernal equinox to vernal equinox, or from summer solstice to summer solstice.Anomalistic year – this is usually defined as the time taken for the Earth to travel from one perihelion to the next.Precession – the slow circular movement of the axis of a spinning body – like the slower movement of a spinning top.
What Are The Benefits Of Solar Energy
Before we get into the meat and potatoes, its important that you understand the importance of solar energy. Its onething to rant on about how it works, why panels are good, and how the environmentreacts, but chances are you wont pay close attention unless you know the whybehind solar energy.
Solar energy will decrease your electricity bill
One of the main reasons solar energy can bebeneficial for you, is due to the fact that it will reduce your electricitybill in the long run. Sure, youll have to pay up front costs, but once itsall said and done youll be in the clear. Plus, once youve had your panels upfor long enough, youll actually have the electric company paying you forelectricity. Not a bad tradeoff right?
Its a truly renewable source of energy
Unlike fossil fuels, natural gas, and othertypes of energy, solar energy is completely renewable. As long as there is asun in our solar system, you can harness the power from it. This is appealing, because youll never have to worry about running out of energy God forbidsomething happens down the line. Also, as we mentioned before, you wont evenhave to pay for it down the line.
Low maintenance
When it comes to solar energy, youll bepleased to hear that not much maintenance goes into it. Once you have solarpower up and running, youll have a hard time stopping it. Sure, the upfrontcost may be high, but you dont need to worry about spending too much more afterthat. Well, unless you want more of course.

Faq: Which Spacecraft Are Headed To Interstellar Space
Five spacecraft have achieved enough velocity to eventually travel beyond the boundaries of our solar system. Two of them reached the unexplored space between the stars after several decades in space.
- Voyager 1 went interstellar in 2012 and Voyager 2 joined it in 2018. Both spacecraft are still in communication with Earth. Both spacecraft launched in 1977.
- NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft is currently exploring an icy region beyond Neptune called the Kuiper Belt. It eventually will leave our solar system.
- Pioneer 10 and Pioneer 11 also will ultimately travel silently among the stars. The spacecraft used up their power supplies decades ago.
Classification Of The Solar System
The sun is the focal point of the solar system and the site of the hydrogen and helium fusion reaction. It emits energy in the form of electromagnetic radiation. As a result, it emits blinding light. The majority of the solar system is made up of a near-vacuum interplanetary medium. Solar flares and coronal mass ejections cause geomagnetic storms. Sounds too intense, right? This interests the kids to hear about the solar system and which planets come under it.

Solar Panel Diagrams How Does Solar Power Work
If you are anything like me, then you find that a picture speaks a thousand words. Ive learned all about how solar panels convert the suns light into electrical energy, but things only really fell into place when I saw it all laid out clearly in diagrams.
Its great to have visual representations to help us to understand how scientific processes work. So Im going to use some solar panel diagrams to show you how solar cells work and then describe all of the elements that go up to make a complete home solar system.

How Does Solar Energy Affect Theenvironment
The last thing youll want to know is how solar energy affects the environment. Not only does solar energy make your wallet happy, but it will also make the planet happy as well.
So if youve ever wondered what the actual impact solar has on the environment is, youll want to pay close attention to this section. Also, before you keep reading, make sure you understand that there are still some other implications that come along with it.
The good
In many cases solar energy can actually bequite good for the environment, because it can be used to replace other energysources. This is a great thing, because increased solar production can lead toa reduction in carbon emissions let out by fossil fuels. When you replace thispollution, you start to see how solar energy can be better for the Earthoverall.
The bad
While solar energy definitely can have a positive impact on the planet, there is a bit of a catch. In order to store energy harnessed by the sun, photovoltaic cells need to be produced.
These cells are what make solar energy work, but they come at a cost to the environment. This is due to the fact that in some cases toxic materials are utilized when these cells are made.
So while solar energy can reduce carbonemissions produced by fossil fuels, the toxic materials used to createphotovoltaic cells can be quite the tradeoff.

The solar system is made up of the Sun and the 8 planets that orbit it, including Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Drawing the solar system is easy once you know the size and order of the planets, and its a great way to learn about the different properties of the celestial bodies that Earth shares space with. You can even draw the solar system to scale by scaling down the distances between the planets and the sun. Use a ruler for an estimation of the distance. Each centimeter is one AU .
Diagram Of The Solar System
This image contains all of the largest objects in the Solar System. You can print this diagram of the Solar System, as well as this handy list of all the planets.
The Sun The central star in the Solar System
Mercury The first planet in the Solar System. Its also the smallest planet in the Solar System. Mercury takes just 88 days to complete an orbit around the Sun.
Venus The second planet from the Sun. In many ways, Venus is a twin to our own Earth. It has nearly the same size and mass as Earth, but the thick atmosphere on Venus makes surface temperatures hot enough to melt lead. Venus is also unusual because it rotates backwards to all the other planets.
Earth Our home planet, the third planet from the Sun. Earth is the only planet in the Solar System known to support life. This is because we are at just the right distance from the Sun so that our planet doesnt get too hot or too cold. We also have one moon the Moon.
Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun, and is much smaller and colder than the Earth. Temperatures on Mars can rise to 20-degrees C, but dip down to -140-degrees C in the northern winters. Mars is thought to be the best candidate for life elsewhere in the Solar System. Mars has two small, asteroid-shaped moons: Phobos and Deimos.
Ceres Ceres is the first dwarf planet in the Solar System, and the largest member of the asteroid belt.
I hope you find this diagram of the Solar System helpful.
