How To Choose The Right Brand For Grid

Just like panels, there are multiple brands of Inverters available in India. However, in the case of inverters, your subsidy does not depend on the make of the inverter you can buy any inverter which meets MNRE specifications and get a subsidy.

Top international brands of solar inverter are:

  • SMA Solar

Indian manufacturers of Inverters are also into manufacturing Solar Inverters, so you can also get:

  • Luminous
  • Microtek

While selecting an inverter, please make sure that the efficiency of the inverter is high. International brands have energy efficiency as high as 98%. Which means, loss of only 2% and almost all the DC energy that your PV panel generates gets converted to useful AC energy.

Inverters these days also have in-built software solutions to manage and monitor electricity generation from the solar panels. So, make sure that you get one that has this capability. If you go for a subsidy, then most of the basic requirements are covered in the requirements by MNRE.

Depending on the type of your connection, you also have to make sure that it is a single-phase inverter or three-phase inverter.

A good heat sink with better heat dissipation along with the use of electrolytic capacitors can make a good inverter, almost a fit-and-forget kind of system which you should look for requiring no maintenance for years.

What Is Solar Charge Controller

The solar charge controller is an electronic device that manages the solar power going into the solar battery from the solar panels. It protects the deep cycle batteries from being overcharged during the day and the battery power from not going back to the solar panel overnight, which causes the battery to drain.

There are two different charging technology used in solar charge controllers: PWM and MPPT. A PWM solar charge controller stands for Pulse Width Modulation, and MPPT Solar Charge Controller stand for Maximum Power Point Tracking.

Chiranjeev Saluja is scaling up. In April 2021, when CarbonCopy spoke to him, installed capacity at his solar module and cell manufacturing company, Telangana-based Premier Energies, stood at 500 MW. That was set to change. We are opening a new unit producing modules worth 750 MW next month, said the firms founder and managing director. With that, our scale will go up to 1.25 GW in modules and 500 MW in cells.

He is not the only one anticipating growth. In April this year, Tata Power Solar Systems announced a doubling of its solar cell and module manufacturing capacity to 1.1 GW. By June, Waaree Solar, Indias biggest photo-voltaic module manufacturer, along with Adani Solar, is aiming to push its module capacity up from 2 GW to 5 GW. Before 2021 ends, Adani Solars installed capacity for cells and modules is expected to rise from 1.5 GW to 2 GW.

Even smaller firms are scaling up. Gautam Solar has boosted capacity at its Haridwar plant from 120 MW to 250 MW. So are others. The public sector is getting into the act as well. State-run companies, like Bharat Heavy Electricals and Coal India, are planning fully integrated solar manufacturing plants as well.

The rise and fall of solar manufacturing

In the years since, however, it has haemorrhaged most of those early gains.

How To Choose The Right Brand For The Panel

Now that you have figured out the right size of your solar PV, you have to start selecting individual components of your Solar PV system. When you contact a company for Solar PV system installation, in most cases you wont find them to be manufacturers of the components of the system, they would just be installers who help you select the right components. But then its important to be aware of the various brands that are available for those components.

Consider this for an analogy: just like cars have dealers and manufacturers, where a dealer can have dealership of one or many brands of cars, a system installer for Solar PV will have tie-ups with various brands of equipment and they will just bring in and install the system in your premise depending on what you choose.

The first thing to choose is the panels. Just like while buying a car, you get European , Japanese , Indian and Chinese products, similarly, in Solar Panels, you can get various brands from various countries. In the case of Solar PV, the global market leaders are the brands of China.

As per the data available on Wikipedia, top international brands based on the capacity of installation, and based on our information from the industry are:

  • First Solar

If you are looking for familiar brands , then you can look at the likes of:

  • Mitsubishi
  • Panasonic
  • Bosch
  • Vikram Solar
  • Tata Power Solar
  • Adani Solar

What is the difference between these brands?

What Are The Benefits Of The Solar System

The newly popular term ‘solar system’ means a combination of solar panels, batteries, inverters, and all other components required to generate solar energy. Installing solar systems in homes, offices, restaurants, hospitals, schools, etc., reduces the dependence upon non-renewable sources of electricity.

In countries like India, where sunlight is abundant all year round, installing a basic 1KW solar panel will prove extremely beneficial. A 1KW solar panel can provide a continuous power supply for 8-10 hours in a 3BHK house. The price of such solar panels may vary depending upon their model and brand.

Getting electricity through solar systems is becoming increasingly common. Not only do they provide a cost-effective alternative to traditional energy resources, but they also serve as a lucrative business option for those interested in it. A solar system comes in different sizes like 1KW, 3KW, 5KW, 10KW, etc., and you can choose any of these depending on your requirements.

There are four kinds of solar systems commonly found in India. They are as follows:

  • A solar system with grid power
  • A solar system with a battery bank
  • A solar system with Voltage Frequency Drive technology
  • A solar system with a charge controller
  • These are highly efficient, and installing them can provide a good amount of uninterrupted solar power to schools, offices, homes, etc. Read on to find out India’s 1KW solar panel price and why you should opt for installing a solar panel.

    Cost Of Monocrystalline Solar Panels:

As the name suggests in monocrystalline solar panels, the solar cells are made up of single silicon crystal.

To make solar cells for monocrystalline solar panels, silicon is formed into cylindrical bars called as silicon ingot. Then the silicon ingot is cut into squares with chamfered edges know as silicon wafers.

These silicon wafers are solar cells which are then assembled in rows and columns to form a solar panel.

Monocrystalline solar cells manufacturing process is complex and expensive which makes them more expensive than polycrystalline solar panels, but because of use of single silicon crystal they have slightly more efficiency .

The below image shows cost of monocrystalline solar panel from Panasonic.

For premium international brands like Panasonic, REC, Longi, Trina the prices of monocrystalline solar panels drastically vary from Rs 32 / watt to Rs 50 / watt.

Since monocrystalline solar panels are not as much used as polycrystalline solar panels in India their prices vary drastically due to low availability, less demand.

Solar panels alone wont do anything, there are many other components in a solar system like solar inverter, distribution boxes, safety switches, earthing and more that work together to produce electricity and save electricity bill.

The prices of domestic solar panels have jumped over 50% in the last two months to over Rs 30 per wattpeak owing to imposition of 25% import duty on cells and higher commodity prices caused by the Ukraine crisis. Domestic panel prices are on par with imported panels from China or even higher, forcing many developers to put their projects on hold as they have turned unviable given the rates built into the existing power purchase agreements.

The government on April 1, 2022 imposed 40% import duty on solar panels, and 25% on solar cells to help domestic manufacturers expand their capacities. However, in the interim, the sector is seen suffering from the double whammy of higher commodity prices and the imposition of import duties for both developers as well as manufacturers.

China used to supply around 85% of Indias panel requirements for solar projects. The manufacturers sourced raw materials such as cells, polysilicones, ingots from them. However, the duties coupled with higher raw material prices have increased the input cost for domestic manufacturers, making domestic panels costly. The Chinese panels have become costly for developers due to 40% duty.

    What Is Solar Panels

    Solar Panels Definition

The solar panels are basically used to collect the solar energy through the photovoltaic cells which are then converted to electricity with the help of the photovoltaic effect. These cells are arranged in the network formation on the top of the solar panel so that they could absorb the excess amount of solar energy.

Most of the solar panels are designed by crystalline silicon solar cells. If you install these solar panels at home then these will help the environment by obstructing the emission of harmful chemicals and also help in reducing global warming. They do not allow any kind of pollution and also decrease our dependency on fossil fuels. and also the traditional power resources. Solar panels share also used in various substances like calculators, which work as long as sunlight is available. If you want to install the solar panels then choose a suitable and resistant Solar mounting system in order to support your solar panels.
