Solid-State Guitar Amps rely on solid-state electronics to amplify the signal. When it comes to the best guitar amp for the money, you may want to check out solid states amps first. They are the economy version of Guitar Amplification, and their price often reflects that. Solid State Amps generally have tinny, thinner tone than their tube driven counterparts, but they require less maintenance. Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Amp Head

Tesla Solar Roof – Cost Breakdown

Founded in 1971 by Randall Smith, Mesa Boogie was originally a small repair shop. The shop gained notoriety for repairing and modifying Fender amplifiers. Modified Fender amplifiers were generally outfitted with a modified gain circuit, which increased the amount of gain that Fender amplifiers were capable of producing. Eventually, Randall Smith started producing amplifiers based off his modified Fender circuit. Interestingly, the name Mesa Boogie is said to have been inspired by Carlos Santana. When the guitarist first played through the amp he was said to have exclaimed this thing boogies.

The Dual Rectifier series was an attempt to further increase the amount of gain available from a Mesa Boogie amplifier, most likely inspired by the advent of heavier genres of music in the late 80s. The series has been heavily utilized by acts such as Metallica, Korn, and Slipknot.

Each of the three channels on the Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier can be managed independently, both in the EQ section and in terms of wattage. The three channels also feature independent gain controls, which go from crystal like clean tones to heavy levels of gain .

The Dual Rectifier also features an effects loop as well as 6L6 output tubes. 6L6 output tubes are generally considered to be warm and dynamic, and generally offer a great high-end frequency response.

Lets Examine The Estimates Found On The Internet

1. Motley Fool

A columnist for Motley Fool has made calculations to predict how solar shingles compare to a traditional roof. He estimates that based on a manufacturing cost of $ 0.30 per shingle is comparable to ceramic or concrete tiles. But be aware that the installation costs are extra: Tesla says that the cost price is $ 3 per watt installed (meaning $ 5880 per 100 square feet or $ 176,400 for a standard 3,000 square feet house.

2. Consumer Reports

Have developed a calculation including anticipated savings in electricity in order to be competitive with a traditional roof they determined that a maximum expenditure of $ 73,500 would be necessary in order to be competitive with asphalt shingle roofing, one of the least expensive solutions. According to information provided by roofing installation associations, and assuming an average house with a 3,000 square foot roof, the total cost of this asphalt shingle roof would be approximately $ 20,000. They then added an annual cost invoice of $ 2,000 in their calculation , and the life of the shingles being 30 years as stated by Tesla. After thirty years, savings are expected to rise to around $ 60,000. When the Powerwall, which is part of the installation of the electricity storage system for non-solarized moments, and which costs $ 6,500, the savings would be reduced to $ 53,500.

How Much Power Do You Need

Think about wattage too – if you just want to play at home, then a small guitar amp with a low wattage will do fine. If youre going down the tube amp route, go for as low a wattage as possible – that way you can crank the preamp section, and it wont deafen everyone! Likewise with solid state and digital amps, whilst the tone wont vary too much depending on the volume, theres no point paying for more than you need.

If youre looking to play some gigs, then youll want to go for something with a bit more power. Its worth noting here that the perceived volume of tube amps and solid state/digital amps is not the same – that is, usually, a 20W tube amp will be louder than a 20W solid state amp. 15/20W is a fairly sweet spot for tube amps if youre playing small to medium gigs as you can push them nicely into overdrive whilst keeping on the good side of the sound technician. For solid state and digital amps, youll probably want to look around 100W to really be heard at shows.

    Seymour Duncan Powerstage 170

At publication time this was the Highest Rated Floor / Pedal Board Guitar Amp from $200 to $500.

The Seymour Duncan Power Stage 170 is a 170W solidstate power amplifier in a pedal form factor that’s around the size of 2 regular pedals side by side.

As an amplifier, it is designed to drive a 4 ohm speaker, while sitting comfortably on a pedalboard or on the floor. This means that you won’t have to be carrying an amp head to a gig, while still being able to run a speaker cabinet.

Top mounted controls include a big level knob for adjusting output, and three knobs for adjusting bass, mid and treble.

    Specifications:

    • Outputs: 1 x 1/4″
    • Weight: 2 lbs.

ProsOwners are pleased at how the PowerStage 170 has simplified their rig, and this is especially loved by those who are looking for ways to make their performing rig lighter. The sound of the amp also gets a lot of commendations, described as full sounding and pedal friendly. Many are also pleased at how responsive it is to input volume changes, much like a regular amp.

ConsThere are some who aren’t too happy with this amp’s voicing, stating that it doesn’t sound like the tube amp that they prefer. But this is expected given that this is meant to be a clean power amplifier, and not a preamp to color your sound.

OverallIt doesn’t get any simpler than this, the Seymour Duncan PowerStage 170 lets you put your amp right on your pedalboard.

Price Comparison Between Solar Panels And Solar Shingles Or Solar Roofs

Trying to compare the prices of rooftop solar panels to BIPV solar roofs is a bit of an exercise in futility due to a significant number of variables that would need to be considered. The biggest one being, that to mount standard solar panels on a roof, you need to cover that roof in the first place. Solar shingles are in themselves a weather protective solar roof cover AND a power-generating solar panel.

The average per-watt price for an old-school rooftop solar installation currently ranges between $2.57 and $3.35 USD, and the average total price for a full solar panel setup in the US averages between $11,411 and $14,874 after any regional solar-tax credits are applied. Again, thats an average incentives vary, and not all states will have tax incentives and rebate programs.

The above may seem a lower price than a full solar roof installation, until of course you add the cost of a roof covering, and possibly having to remove panels in fine working order simply to replace defective shingles beneath them. And, to add additional types of apples to compare with these oranges – you also have aesthetics, durability and home resale value to consider.

Where BIPV solar roofs really pull away from solar panels is the lack of hassle with roof coverings, and the cool factor. They just look cooler, full stop. And we are probably all attracted to shiny things a bit more than we may like to think. : )
