Cost Of Solar Panels For 2500 Sq Ft Home

Kilowatt Guideline Based On Solar Panel System Size:

Solar Panels For Home – 1 Year Later Review – Is Solar Worth It?
  • 3kWh produces 3,600 to 4,800kWh annually
  • 5kWh produces 6,000 to 8,000kWh annually
  • 10kWh produces 12,000kWh to 16,000kWh annually

Solar panel cost is one factor. Batteries and additional equipment are another. Potential solar energy consumers need to understand that a 10kWh system should more than cover all of their consumption needs based on average household consumption. Batteries are not included.

However, a 5 or 6-kWh system is a perfect supplement to diminish your high consumption cost during peak times.

Consumers need to answer whether they want to become completely self-reliant on their solar panels and batteries or do they want to supplement their current utility provider.

Estimated Solar Energy System Costs Per Watt

Watt
10kW $31,500 – $35,500

Although the per-watt price of installing solar ranges from $2.50 to $3.50, it varies regionally You’ll see the greatest difference between the Southern and New England regions. This does not necessarily mean that it is less cost-effective in New England as opposed to other regions. Different states, even different counties, will have varying returns on investment dependent on other factors.

These factors include:

  • Average electricity bills.

  • Amount of sunshine expected per day.

Below you will find the average rates of having your system professionally installed, according to region and wattage. These figures do not include any tax credits or incentives. Consider that the average size is 5kW. Hawaii, included in the Western region, has a high rate per watt at $2.85 on average. Georgia, in the Southern region, has a lower rate at $2.53 on average.

Solar Financing In Texas

Texas energy economy is decentralized, meaning there are no state-wide policies affecting cost. Rather, policies like net metering and solar rebates are left up to the jurisdiction of cities, counties and specific electricity providers.

However, many energy companies still offer net metering to their customers, and all Texas residents are eligible for the federal solar credit. These can help reduce the expenses surrounding a solar installation.

Check with your municipality or electricity provider to learn more about local rebates or financing programs available in your area. Solar rebates can lower the cost of purchasing your solar PV system by 10%-20%.

Additionally, your county may offer Property Assessed Clean Energy lending programs, which offer affordable, long-term financing options to property owners looking to upgrade the energy efficiency of their homes. Learn more about Texas PACE programs here.

Do I Need Approvals From My Electricity Distribution Company For Grid

You certainly need to take approvals from your electricity distribution company. This is because they are the ones who shall purchase electricity generated by your system. Before you start your project, you have to submit a form with your electricity distribution company . In the form, you will have to list out all the technical details of your PV project, along with your electricity bills and other relevant documents. The electricity distribution company will also do its feasibility study before you go ahead and install the system.

Once the system is installed, the electricity distribution company will sign an agreement with you which is called a Power Purchase Agreement or PPA. This agreement will lay out the terms and conditions at which the electricity distribution company will purchase electricity from you. This should be in line with the terms set up by the State Electricity Regulatory Commission and will lay down the terms of purchase.

Once everything is set up and the PPAs are signed, your electricity distribution company will install the Net Meter in your premise. Please note that your old meter may give way to this new meter . If you have gross metering, then you will get an additional meter. Your system will start functioning once everything is set and connected.

How Many Solar Panels Will You Need

To know how many solar panels you will need, you will want to determine how much electricity you use in your home daily.

Modernize recommends discussing these factors with a trusted solar contractor. For ease, bring your electric bills with you to a consultation or calculate how much energy you use per day ahead of time by taking your monthly kilowatt usage and dividing it by 30. For context, the average house in the United States uses about 900-kilowatt hours a monthroughly 11,000 kWh a year.

Ultimately, the number of panels you purchase matters because it contributes toward the amount of kW of electricity produced each day. In turn, the more of your electricity costs you want absorbed by solar energy, the more panels you will need. If you only want a portion of your power to be produced by solar panels, you wont need as many panels.

    Local And Federal Tax Incentives

Solar tax incentives and rebates are offered on the federal and state levels. For example, the federal tax credit offers a 26% credit on installing residential solar systems through the solar investment tax credit .

How To Choose The Right Brand For Grid

Just like panels, there are multiple brands of Inverters available in India. However, in the case of inverters, your subsidy does not depend on the make of the inverter you can buy any inverter which meets MNRE specifications and get a subsidy.

Top international brands of solar inverter are:

Indian manufacturers of Inverters are also into manufacturing Solar Inverters, so you can also get:

While selecting an inverter, please make sure that the efficiency of the inverter is high. International brands have energy efficiency as high as 98%. Which means, loss of only 2% and almost all the DC energy that your PV panel generates gets converted to useful AC energy.

Inverters these days also have in-built software solutions to manage and monitor electricity generation from the solar panels. So, make sure that you get one that has this capability. If you go for a subsidy, then most of the basic requirements are covered in the requirements by MNRE.

Depending on the type of your connection, you also have to make sure that it is a single-phase inverter or three-phase inverter.

A good heat sink with better heat dissipation along with the use of electrolytic capacitors can make a good inverter, almost a fit-and-forget kind of system which you should look for requiring no maintenance for years.
