How Solar Energy Is Produced:

Solar power is the process of converting energy from the sun into electricity to power your home or your business. Sunlight is harnessed through the use of photovoltaic cells in solar panels.

The panels absorb sunlight particles, called photons which then flow through the semi-conductive materials in the panels, creating an electrical current.

Nys Solar Incentives And Solar Financing

At New York Power Solutions, its our goal to make solar more accessible to everyone. We have developed our financing model to take full advantage of NYS solar incentives.

Financing can be split into two separate terms. This split financing allows for a no money down and interest-free period.

Your expected tax credits from NYS solar incentives will be applied to the initial financing. This will be calculated specifically for the incoming credits. At the rollover of the next tax year, you will use your NYS solar incentives to pay the initial no money down and zero-interest loan.

The remainder of your solar bill will then be split over a longer term, which will be based on whats best for you. Customers typically opt for a term ranging from 10 to 20 years. Youll enjoy more savings with a shorter term, but it depends on your financial situation. With our finance partners, well help you choose something that works.

The second loan will be fixed at a low-interest rate.

Combining NYS solar incentives and our affordable financing means that your dream of solar at home can become a reality. You can gain energy independence.

Energy Storage Incentives For Businesses

Businesses that pair solar with energy storage, such as batteries, can qualify for energy storage incentives. For projects up to 5 MW, they get an upfront payment for each kilowatt-hour of energy storage they install. The state incentive dashboard shows the amount of this payment by region. Like NY-Sun incentives, this benefit is available only through participating contractors.

In addition, businesses can get financing for energy storage projects through the Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy program. This helps businesses pay for a project over time rather than making a large up-front investment.

Final Thoughts On State Solar Incentives In New York

Senator Chuck Schumer pushes for solar energy tax credit change

New York State gets a little less sun than average in the U.S. but has a fairly high cost of electricity. Going solar could save the average household nearly $66,000 in electricity costs over a 25-year solar panel lifespan. With the average cost of rooftop solar in New York State somewhere between $10,000 and $25,000, it makes a lot of sense to go solar at home in New York State.

Factor in a generous rafter of rebates, tax credits, exemptions, and even the somewhat subpar net metering regulations and you can get that cost down to under $15,000 and maybe even under $10,000. All in all, homeowners in New York State are well placed for a short solar payback period in the Empire State.

The Mw Block Structure

The cost of installing solar varies throughout New York state. To make sure solar incentives go where theyre needed most, the NY-Sun program is organized by region. Each region is broken into blocks, and each block gets a certain number of megawatts that are eligible for incentives at a given cost.

Each incentive given out through NY-Sun counts against the number of MW allocated to its block. When all the MW have been given out, there are no more incentives available in that block.

Thus, you cant always get a NY-Sun incentive for a new solar system. The availability and cost depend on how many incentives have already been given out in your area. You can check the current incentive levels for your region on the MW Block Dashboard.

Home Solar Project Sales Tax Exemption

The final option well discuss is the Home Solar Project Sales Tax Exemption program, designed to lower your installation costs. You can purchase a new residential solar power system and not pay any sales tax under this exemption. Typically, this exemption serves as 100% of your sales tax. You can save almost 4% before paying for your installation with this exemption. Additionally, this program applies to energy systems utilizing solar radiation to provide heat, cool air, water, or electricity. You can access these savings if you choose to go solar in New York. State solar incentives like this one can reduce your installation costs and make solar power an ideal choice for your structure.
