With a combination of lowered solar energy costs, improved manufacturing quality and better incentives, solar power has become a viable alternative energy source for homeowners across the United States. In fact, according to a 2017 report from the International Energy Agency, solar is the worlds fastest-growing source of power, and if the trend continues, the Department of Energys Energy Information Administration predicts that renewable electricity could exceed coal electricity by 2022. By installing solar panels on your home, you can not only offset energy costs and save thousands of dollars on utility bills, you can also reduce your carbon footprint and contribute to energy independence in the United States. And you can find residential solar panel kits right at Home Depot, where you can easily compare prices, read customer reviews and determine which type of solar equipment best satisfies the energy demands of your home.

Earn Tax Credits And Rebates

There are a number of tax breaks and financial incentives available to homeowners who go solar. In fact, when you install solar panels on your home, you can get back 30% of the total system cost for the equipment and installation as a federal income tax credit. That means on a solar system worth $25,000, you would save $7,500. And you can earn thousands more by taking advantage of state and local rebates or selling your Solar Renewable Energy Credits to utility companies.

Tesla Will Sell Its Powerwall And Solar Roof In Home Depot

Tesla might not be able to sell its electric cars nationwide because of various state laws, but its about to bring its battery and solar products to more than 800 retail locations. The company founded by Elon Musk is partnering with Home Depot to sell its Powerwall and Solar Roof products directly to consumers. Tesla will even have its own employees on hand at Home Depot locations to tout the benefits of the tech.

The Tesla presence in Home Depot, the largest home improvement retailer in the US, will start with the companys Powerwall product. Its basically a giant battery that mounts to your wall to serve as a backup source of power. When paired with a solar power solution, it can make a house independent of the power grid.

Some Home Depot locations will have large 7 x 12-foot signs advertising the Powerwall. Many locations will also have demo units installed to show consumers how the devices work. Tesla claims the Powerwall is able to detect outages in a split second and switch on to ensure theres no interruption in power.

Teslas Solar Roof

You wont be able to walk out of Home Depot with a Powerwall in your cart, though. The mini Tesla stores in Home Depot will basically serve as a way to schedule the service, which includes an inspection to ensure your home is suitable for Powerwall and/or Solar Roof installation.

Some Of The Reasons Why Home Depot Discontinued The Plexiglass Cutting Service Include:

1. The damages recorded were more than the number of sales made

Unlike wood and glass, as stated earlier, cutting Plexiglass is quite tricky and demands a lot of patience and practice, which many people might not have. One mistake and you will have to replace or purchase new Plexiglass as a wrong cut equals damaged product. Otherwise, if you dont manage to cut it right and end up destroying most of the material, you may have to abandon your construction project and find another material to use or a professional to cut the material for you.

Since Home Depot had to cover for any damaged material, it became a zero-profit business as the damages outweighed the sales. Hence, the company stopped cutting the Plexiglass for its clients.

2. Plexiglass Cutting Is High Risk

Anything can happen to the material while cutting it. Workers were damaging more Plexiglass than the company was selling. So, it did not seem like a good decision to continue offering the cutting service as profits were not made. As stated earlier, a business has to make decisions based on a risk and reward ratio.

For the Plexiglass cutting service, the risk always came on top compared to the reward. Therefore, it forced Home Depot to discontinue the service. And, from a business point of view, it was a good decision though many customers were ready to use the service to their advantage.

3. High Damage Costs To The Company

4. Safety Concerns

5. Limited Floor Space

6. No Plexiglass Cutting Full-Time Employees

Tesla Is Selling Its Solar Products In Home Depot Stores Starting In July

Getting your hands on a Tesla Powerwall is a bit more challenging than simply running to the local hardware store but thats about to change. Tesla just announced that it will sell its solar products at Home Depot. Solar panels? Check. Powerwalls? You bet. Even Solar Roofs? You got it. Its all happening in 800 stores by July of this year.

Home Depot has 2,200 stores across the US, which can help Tesla go a long way towards reaching new customers. In July, 800 of these stores will have Tesla kiosks, staffed by Tesla employees, with interactive demonstrations, information and purchasing capabilities.

The move is smart for several reasons. First, when Tesla bought SolarCity, it was going door-to-door to move its products. This was expensive. Additionally, Tesla has advertised its products in Tesla showrooms, but that targets a specific customer with relatively few locations.

Initial reports say that the kiosks will be limited to selling solar panels and Powerwalls, with the Solar Roof coming as production ramps up. Its all part of Elon Musks plan to make adding solar to a home an easy and seamless process.

Tesla To Sell Solar Products In 800 Home Depot Stores

California To Require Solar Panels On Most New Homes, Tesla Powerwall at Home Depot

Bloomberg reports that Tesla will have rooftop solar displays inside 800 Home Depot stores by the middle of the year. The sales locations will be staffed by Tesla employees.

With 2,200 stores, Home Depot is one of the largest retailers in America. By July of this year, 800 of those stores will have high-profile, 12 foot high, 7 foot wide displays advertising Tesla kiosks located inside. Staffed by Tesla employees, they will feature Tesla solar products solar panels, rooftop solar systems, and Powerwall storage batteries. Bloomberg reports some locations will also have interactive demonstrations of how the products work.

The new marketing strategy replaces the direct door-to-door marketing approach previously employed by SolarCity, which Tesla purchased outright at the end of 2016. Reportedly, a third of the cost of the rooftop solar systems SolarCity sold was eaten up by commissions, promotional costs, and office overhead. The company now has solar product displays in its automotive showrooms, but the new link-up with Home Depot will give it exposure to a much broader market.

It is unknown how the new tariff on solar cells and panels imposed by the Trump administration last week will affect Tesla. Certainly, the residential solar market has been a challenge for many companies who got in early. Investors have been treated to a virtual train wreck as several companies have gone bankrupt trying to navigate the turbulent waters of the residential solar industry.
