Theres no getting away from it: a 100 watt solar panel set up is quite small.

How To Install 100 Watt Solar Panel System
Our guide details everything you need to install a campervan solar panel system.
Its written to suit any size of system so it makes reference to how to install multiple panels.
For a 100w solar set up this is probably irrelevant unless you bought smaller solar panels.
It may come in useful when considering upscaling your set up though.

What Can A 100 Watt Solar Panel Power
How much a 100 watt solar panel can power depends on a number of variables including the time of year, the weather, your location and the type of charge controller you install.
But heres an idea of what you might expect to get on an average day of 4 peak hours of sun with an MPPT controller.
A 100 watt panel will provide about 30-32 amp hours per day.
Thats about enough to:
- recharge a couple of small devices on a USB like phones or a tablet,
- run your roof vent during the night to stop condensation,
- keep a composting toilets fan running 24/7 and
- switch on a few LED lights inside the campervan.
Bear in mind this is based on an average sun light day.
You may not be able to replenish the batteries everyday so consider keeping something back as contingency to avoid cycling the batteries more than necessary.

Why Do You Need An Inverter
Inverters convert the DC flowing from your battery into AC so that you can power AC home appliances with your off-grid solar setup.
The power that runs through the main power grid to supply homes with electricity flows in AC. Home appliances use AC to run.
On the other hand, the batteries connected to your solar setup flows in DC. Therefore, inverters have to convert DC to AC in order to power your home appliances with solar power.
Subsidy On 100 Watt Solar Panel
To promote clean and renewable energy resources, the government of India is providing subsidies to people who want to install an on-grid or hybrid solar system for their homes. For a solar system consisting of 100W solar panels, you will get a 40% subsidy from the Indian government. That means the government of your state will pay 40% of the total initial cost of a 100W solar panel. The subsidy schemes are different for different states.

How Much Energy Does A 100
A 100-watt panel refers to a solar photovoltaic module that is rated 100 watts. This means that it has a power output of up to 100 watts of DC output under optimal conditions.
Lots of things need to line up for you to achieve the maximum possible output: the panel must be properly installed at the right angle and direction, and crucially, must be receiving peak sun .
Of course, you wont actually get optimal conditions most of the time. To begin with, your panel will receive less-than-peak sunshine for a large part of the day, such as in the morning and late afternoon. At those times, your panel will produce far less than 100 W. Further complicating issues is the fact that the total amount of sunlight varies by location, because of geography and climate. For example, sunny Nevada gets a lot more sun than snowy Vermont!
What this all means is that a 100-watt solar panel will produce different amounts of total power – depending on where you use it.

Inverters are almost always mentioned alongside solar panels so that some people may think they are essential. However there are instances wherein you may not even need one.
Solar panels produce DC power which an inverter transforms into AC. If your device runs on DC, there is no need for an inverter. You only require one if you want to run electronics that use AC power.
Cell phones run on DC power, as well as some flat screen TVs, motors, electric cars and laptops. You can connect these onto a solar power system without using an inverter. They can run off the solar panel or the battery. Most home appliances however, run on AC. Toasters, dishwashers and refrigerators use AC.

My buddy uses a few of theseWindyNation 100 watt solar panels for his cabin in the woods, and he says that they can produce up to 350 watt hours of power per day on a GOOD day.
However, most of the time its a lot less than that.
These panels come with a solar controller included but the overall construction feels a little cheap.
Its also polycrystalline, though they dont make that obvious when you buy it. A typical polycrystalline panel is blue however they use black panel image on the sales pages!
